Evidence of Outcome Achievement and Future Work
One of the assignments in my history class asks students to do a close analysis of an individual document. For those students who clearly excel (earn an A grade or better), I will try something this semester and let them skip the remaining assignments in this category with a C grade. I wonder how many will take up the offer not to do the later work.

In my spring 2012 history class I added this option for the subject analysis, which required students to compare the coverage of a topic in the textbook and on Wikipedia. This was done on the discussion board.
ReplyDeleteFor this semester on the writing assignment, 11 students had this option (4 with A's on the first assignment, 7 more on the second). Four of them (1 after the first assignment and 3 after the second) accepted it. For the subject analysis assignment, 15 got an A on the first assignment and 8 of them did not do the remaining subject analyses. Six got their first A on the second assignment, and 4 of these did not do the third or fourth.
